LED lamps help saving energy

The integrated LED spotlights, as well as LED recessed down lights, have replaced existing Halogen lamps at New York’s Salon Ziba. A total of 85 LED spotlights were integrated on the first floor of the salon and will help save more than 3.1kW energy. On the first floor alone, the salon will save up to 74% of its energy costs. On the second floor, 20 recessed cans were replaced with LED down lights, which offer directional light, dynamic color tuning, and an "instant-on" solution. In addition to work stations within the salon, retail and reception areas within the space also decorated by new LED fixtures, helping deliver further savings. LED streetlights also play an important role in streets illumination. Newbury has just finished its replacement of streetlights with LED streetlights. West Berkshire council said new technology meant LED lights were now powerful enough to be used on major traffic routes. Up until now the LED lighting had only been used on lamp columns in residential streets in the town. West Berkshire council said the new lights would save money as the average lifespan of a sodium lamp was only four years.
